Taste and Odor Removal Filter 1.0 cuft active media:
The filter is designed to remove chlorine from municipal drinking water and to remove several of the offensive tastes associated with some well waters; though, not the rotten egg smell and taste associated with Hydrogen Sulfide. Typically the unit will treat the water used by two people for a single year.
Before HydroTec ships the unit we rinse the carbon with deionized water to remove the dust and then blow the water out of the tank with filtered air to dry the carbon and reduce shipping weight.
The filter is 6” by 10” by 21.5” with 0.2 cubic foot or over 5 pounds of Coconut Grade carbon. The connections are ¾” quick connects for easy placement and removal of the tank.
The unit can be shipped back to HydroTec for reloading once the media is depleted.

Offensive Taste and Odors are not common in drinking water; the most common T&O problem is the smell of chlorine. This excess chlorine will oxidize the organic compounds in tea, coffee and other drinks. Oxidation may not be extreme; however, in most cases if the chemical is removed improvements in the taste of your drinks will be noticeable.
The addition of chlorine to municipal water is a necessity to maintain the high sanitary condition of your water as it pumped from the district to your home. However, once in your home the chlorine is easily removed by carbon. Total Chlorine, Chloramines, is not as easily removed but still can be treated with carbon.
